Cant remote access pc in standby!

Im using simple file sharing and trying to access a pc running XP Pro from another Pc running Windows 2000. When both Pcs are running theres no problem and i can access each others files sucessfully. Ive set the Pc (XP Pro) to go into standby and when i try to access it from the other Pc(2000) it just says "Network path not found" .

The only settings ive changed

In the Bios
Standby:S3 state
Power management:user define

In the OS in the properties section- network adapter(power management section) in the device manager.
Ive enabled "allow this device tobring the computer out of standby"
and also "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
(Ive tried every combination of these settings!)

Ive also tried setting the PCI card in the Bios to bring it out of standby but it still wont! What am i doing wrong? Could it be drivers or something?

I to have never succeeded in getting XP to allow access after going into standby, frequently I found I had to go and reboot the other PC before I could continue to access it.Despite checking that none of the hardware had been set to "Allow XP to switch off this device to save power" the other PC would frequently produce the "Network path not found" or "You don't have permission, contact the admin of your network"

do you know if its possible to get wake on lan working in this instance and then maybe access it when the network card has brought it out of standby?
