Can't print remotely from laptop.

  crazychris 19:22 08 Apr 2008

Was printing okay before but my daughter's school laptop had a virus so the school technician reset it all. Downloaded printer's drivers from Dell okay but still won't print. Any ideas please? Thanks.

After she's downloaded the drivers the printer still isn't listed under "printers"

Is this on a Network?

Have you enabled file and printer sharing in the network connections?

Have you enabled the network connections, even?

Hmm. Where do I do that, on the main PC or the laptop?

Right done that on the main PC. Printer sharing was already ticked!

Can the laptop and PC see each others files? - in other words, is the network itself working?

Not sure what you mean by Networking. Should have put this in beginners maybe! Done nothig different to what we did in Sept and it downloaded remotely from then until last month. As far as we can remember we just downloaded the drivers from Dell. It's a Dell printer and Toshiba laptop.

You need to set up your network on the laptop. Try running the Network setup wizard.
For XP click here
For Vista this is a basic "what you should know" click here
and you can access it through Control Panel >Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Setup a connection or network
or just cheat and use this software click here
