Can't play snooker

Hello everyone...:)

I have downloaded a snooker game but it will not play. My mate said it needed direct x to play, so I downloaded this and now I get the following message....

"Could not create the direct3DDevice object
Try changing the color quality (depth) from 24/32bit to 16bit. Change color quality to 16bit'

Now my problem is that the last time I changed the color quality (Being about a year or so ago) The screen went to a very funny shade, and PC became inopperable, and some mush charged me £80 for a new hard drive. I could not communicate with any of you for advice. so advice is needed before I take that faithful leap into costville. As most of you will know i am running windows 98, (Cos this seems inevitably important)...:@)
Yours always in hope and in need of a spellchecker

I'm no expert but it sounds like you've a very old video card with a shortage of memory. Personally any prog that I download and I can't get working in 5 minutes goes in the recycle bin.

Changing the colour quality has absolutely nothing to do with the hard drive.

Right click a spare space on the desktop select properties -settings-colour quality to medium 16 bit.

If screen goes funny leave it and windows should revert after 30 seconds.
