Can't open email attachment - no paper clip.

  SKODANUT 17:15 06 Dec 2008

A colleague has sent me an email asking me to print out the attachment. He is away from home with his laptop but no printer - there is no paperclip to double click. Message comes up "Create an association in the folder options control panel". My computereeze being limited this might as well be Cninese ! Help please, he wants to send his letter tonight.

depends on what file type is involved. A quick way is to right-click on the file and select 'open with' and then select an application - Microsoft Word, for instance, or even Notepad.

If there's no paperclip symbol on the message it may be that there is no attachment - your colleague may have forgotten to attach it to his message.

The attachment needs to be Associated with a program which can open it - depends on which program your colleague has used to create it. You will need the same, or a similar, program on your PC.

To make the Association you need to go to Start>Control Panel>Folder Options>File Types

IT may be that you do not have the prog installed to open the file type the attachment was created in.

Knowing the file type will help...
