Can't install XP

  jono366 11:14 09 Jul 2004

I'm trying to reinstall XP Pro, but during the initial phase of copying files and dll's i get a message saying setup is unable to copy file. It is not always the same file. I have removed the partion and created a new one and formatted it still no joy. When i try windows 98 it installs OK.
I have tried the hard drive in another PC and it installs XP OK, therefor i think both the hard drive and the disk are OK.
My system:-PC Chips MB
Athlon 2400XP
512 DDR 2100 RAM
Maxtor 40GB 5400 rpm hard drive
G-Force MX440 64Mb graphics
LG 52x CD-RW

This happens sometimes with faulty RAM modules; do you have the option to swap them?
