Since Wednesday I have been trying to install windows updates, but they fail every time I try. I've only had a problem once before, but this is starting to get annoying. Anyone have any ideas?
I have windows xp. Thanks.

go to controlpanel>administrative tools>services find cryptographic services

double click on it, from the list of start up types choose "automatic" click ok

restart and all should be well

cdb - MS Knowledgebase articles 312955 and 319109 are two closest matches I could find for your problem. When you say they fail to install, do you get an error message?

I tried the advice in bvw's link. ie deleting (renamed for now) the catroot2 folder. It seems to have done the trick, they installed, albeit abit slower than normal. Thanks guys.
