whenever I try to download anything the download icon appears and right near the end it stops - displaying the broken download icon - any tips
Info on Win os plus any error message please.
a download manager to resume from broken downloads? Something like Fresh Download from click heremaybe ?
windows 98 there are no error messages
As JoeC suggested a download manager to resume could be the answer, but if there is a problem with windows it may have to be rectified first. Are the broken downloads are result of diconection? Can you download smaller files but bigger files may break off.?Is your net connection cut of when download stops?Any pattern to problem (sites you visit)?
makes no difference what file size is or what site it is - connection is fine and doesn't cut off
Ok got to start some where, so closedown all programs.Go start, run, type in sfc click ok and see if any file are corrupt and need replacing. WIN98 cd READY if prompted unless cab files are in system from where you can direct to replace from.Post back after trying download.
if running a firewall, disable and see if any difference.
You can also try internet explorer repair from add/remove programs if available.
no luck so far - have tried add/remove - no repair facility. Tried sfc and it came up with corrupt file user.exe C/windows/system, I tried the windows cd but it couldn't find the relevant file, looked in cabs and its not there.
The file is not corrupted bit of a red herring. Are you using IE 5.5 With your system?
