Can't copy contents of SD card - corrupt file

  justjill 20:39 04 Apr 2006

I'm trying to copy the contents of an SD card to the PC but the PC won't let me do it because one of the files is corrupt - and it won't let me delete the corrupt file from the SD card either. Why can I not copy/delete the file and is there any way around this? I really need to copy the contents to the PC.

Many thanks.

Highlight all the files except the corrupt one and 'copy' in 'my computer'

In windows explorer, highlight all the files except the corrupt one and drag and drop.

What files are on your SD card, are they text or pictures?.

You could try this click here - it's a data recovery program which works with memory cards as well as hard drives etc. (I've used it to save my daughter's coursework from a corrupted USB drive). You can download an evaluation copy but may have to pay to retrieve/delete your file. Other people may be able to recommend a free alternative?

Thanks, Fellsider, I'll give that a go.

alan227, it's the SD card belonging to a GP2X so it's ROM images, emulators and associated files.

pipedream, thank you, I'll have a look at that.

Fellsider's tip worked a treat and I've bookmarked that data recovery link for future reference.

Many thanks :)
