Hi all

I have a 600gig internal HDD that I am trying to clone to a seagate 1TB external Hard drive.

I have tried Todo backup and seagate disk wizard as the programs to clone HDD

2 similar error....
Todo_ states its scanning system and the progress bar is moving along, after 30 mins I get an error message that computer is not responding and only way out of his is to shutdown.

Seagate Disc Wizard, I get as far as seeing the main drive and highlighting the ext HD, but when it attempts to clone it states it needs to shut down, on re-boot. At this point nothing happens apart from the shutdown screen appearing and then I have to physically switch PC off myself. On reboot I get the error that Windows was shut down unexpectedly and how do i want to re-boot?etc.

Can any one advise if they can see why I am having all these problems!

Win7, 64 bit OS

Thanks

Possible Fault/bad sectors on 600GB HD have you scanned HD.

thanks BRYNIT

Can you tell me a way of checking this or what I can do to possibly resolve this?

thanks

Maybe stems from having 64bit, but just a guess ...

Dam this 64 bit O/S!!!!

Is there anyway I can clone my HDD then? or will i have to bite the bullet and purchase Acronis?

Regards

Well, I use, and always recommend Acronis!

I am assuming that as its a paid for program its 64 bit compatible??

Worth a try.

Not sure how to check HD with Win7. But Easeus Partition manager should help click here

It sound as though you maybe trying clone the disk from win7, Win7 could be preventing files from being copied. With Todo creating a boot disk, boot from disk and try again.

use acronis instead
