I have reformatted my old (200MMX) HP Pavilion and it will not allow me to re-install Win2k from the CD, I get a code 4 fault. Tried different CD drives and HDs. Yes, it's slow but it worked fine up till now. Any ideas other than not buying big company PCs?
Not silly at all! I have even reloaded the mirror disk which should have sorted out any motherboard wrinkles and then used the Win2k CD to replace the Win95. Everything is fine until I need to access the CD. I have used the CD before but this is the first time that I have formatted the drive. By the way, when I look in the BIOS, the CD Characteristics are all zero.
