Can't access web sites.

Hi,

Can anyone help please ?

For the last 3 weeks I can't seem to log onto certain sites.
Bt, Virgin mobile, National lottery sites are some were I have accounts.
But I can't even access the home pages to even try and log in to my accounts.
I can't even get onto certain sites such as Talk Talk, Tiscalli and other providers as I am looking to change provider. And yet some I can.
Pay Pal is another site I am having trouble with.
Sometimes I can log into it but most times I can't.

And yet I can get on other sites ok and log in such as my bank, ebay and here etc.

I have even had my PC cleaned and things reinstalled but the problems still exists.
The bloke who was supposed to have sorted it said everything loaded ok from his place.
But when we set it up again here the problem was still there.

He has checked my router (D-Link) and says that is ok. (not using wireless)
The firewall and protection settings are all ok according to him.

My provider is AOL Broadband but have not installed there software since having PC cleaned so am just using IE and Firefox.
Using Windows xp sp3 home edition.

Hi jakimo,

They start to load but never get to the sites.
It seems to get so far in loading them and then just stops.
So I never even see the sites.

Take BT for instance.
If I try to get on there main page to log into my account I can't even get there.

And yet if I wanted to find a telephone number off there find a number site I can access that ok.

Try lowering the Security settings in your browser.

Hi Technotiger,
They are as low as they will go, but it doesn't help I'm afraid.

try.Run Type in cmd. then Ok.Command prompt will open type ipconfig /flushdns Then Enter.A small gap between ipconfig and forward slash or it will not work.
It should tell you dns cache has been flushed if so reboot the computer and see if it makes any difference.

Give a link here to one of the un-reachable sites, then we can try it.

hI Technotiger,
this is the BT SITE I can't get on link.

Sorry, I have been away briefly ...

I clicked on your link and went immediately to the BT site, I then Clicked on Home within the site and again went immediately to that page!

So no apparent problem with the site.

What happens if you click on your own Link above ??

You presumably mean BT Directory Enquiries - which is another page on the same BT site. As a matter of interest how do you reach that page?
