Hi Guys,

I have the cannon MP620 connected wirelessly to my home network.

If I were to take my laptop to a mates house, is there anyway I print documents to my printer from there?

Thanks for any help

It all depends on how far away your mates house is.

Hi recap

My mates house is the other side of town.

I am essentially asking if my printer has an ip address that enables me to connect to it from any location via the internet?

No.

Your printer is a network printer for your local network not for the internet.

It can be done but way beyond the scope of this thread.

Had a thought:

You could VNC into your home computer from your friends house and use "your" comouter via the internet. Very easy to setup once you understand the basics.

The program I use is: Real VNC server enterprise edition. I can then remote into my home computer from any java enabled browser.

Have a read: click here

Although the above software is not free, there are plenty of VNC programs out there that are free. I'm sure that after a bit of reading and research, you could have this setup for free in a couple of hours.

Hi Tech Guy,

Been away on holiday so only just read your response.

I'll do some research on VNC and give it a go.

Thanks for your help
