Please help - I have a Canan IXUS 100IS and it stops video recording after 29 seconds. The manual says it should record for up to 30 minutes or 4gb. I have a 8gb memory card in it and have formatted it but still have the problem. The camera is only 6 months old. Any help would be much appreciated.

Strictly speaking, we're not here to answer qustions on how to operate camera's. However, I have a question for you, have you put the SD card in? It may seem like a silly question, but it could be an easy mistake to make. If you have and you've checked the manual 'Trouble Shooting' section, with no joy. Then may I suggest you click here and pose your question again in the Canon Forum.

What class is your SD card - you need class 6 if you're shooting HD video.

the card is class 2.
I am not shooting in HD.

Is the battery new(ish) and fully charged?

yes to both

My Canon camera (Powershot SX200iS) stopped after 25 seconds. On checking the rather thick manual, it indicates that you must use class 4 or higher. 8GB Kingston SDHC class 4 card is about £14 from eBuyer. Look for cards with good user ratings and you'll usually see people's experience of using them for video recording.

thanks I will give that a try.

The recording size was 77.4 mb. Will try another card thanks.
