Canon i850 printer problems

Am I the only one having problems with my printer in this hot weather?

My Canon i850 is suddenly printing very streakily/blotchily and/or not printing some colours (particularly yellow) at all.

I'm using new compatible ink cartridges from Choice (never had any problems before).

I've done a deep clean and a 'normal' clean on the print head.

I've done a nozzle check and a print head re-alignment.

Yet, still I'm getting blotchy results.

Does anybody have any other ideas?

For 'new cartridges' read 'nearly new'. They're all a few weeks old, have worked OK until today and are over half full (or even half empty!!)

Funnily enough I noticed slight horizontal lines on my i850 on Saturday (during the heat-wave). I ran 'clean' and two 'alignment' tests. After printing two more photos on high quality glossy paper, the problem has now gone away. I only use original Canon inks.

I use only the original inks for my i850 and its working fine. Did some printing over the weekend and a large number of multi-coloured posters this afternoon. Sorry its not a direct answer to your problem, but I think it rules out the hot weather for you.

Thanks for that. I'll try it.

However - silly question.

How do I remove the print head??!!

Got it!

Print head removed and washed.

Must admit that there was a hell of a lot of coloured water before it started to run clear.

I'll put it all back together, cross my fingers and try to print something.

"I've done a nozzle check and a print head re-alignment" - what was the printed page like, because it prints a matrix of all the colours - was this OK? IMHO you must use the printer at least once/14 days otherwsie there is a danger of ink blocks in the head. David

"must use the printer at least once/14 days otherwsie there is a danger of ink blocks in the head"

The printer is used constantly 7 days a week.

The problem is now solved thanks to yaesu's post and link of 14:57.
