Canon 8000F-Driver problem.

  Derek 16:42 06 Apr 2003

Self Builds. 500 plus DDR. 60 Gb HDD. Win ME.
M'board Elite K7S5A Ver 3.1a Duron 1.3 Ghz

Bought the Canon 8000F scanner and can't get the driver to load. Rang support and they suggest that my mb K7S5A (latest)may not be suitable. They also said that my Via USB 2 card may not have a compatable chipset. This sounds all a bit negeative to me, any way I took out the USB2 card and connected up in to standard USB, still no good.
Since all my messing about I now appear to have a bit of a problem in other parts of the PC. My two previous scanners have worked properly on this machine and I hasten to add, I have followed the loading instructions to the letter.
Just in case I have corrupted any part of Win ME, I would like to re-load it.
How should I go about re-loading Windows ME.

I know that I should disable Go-Back, Norton stuff and Firewall etc.

Many thanks in anticipation. DM.
