Cannot switch user on dual XP/Windows 7 PC

Whenever we switch users in XP we get a black screen and the computer freezes. A restart is the only option. According to the Microsoft forum this could be due to a third party application and or service running that is possibly interfering. This has only started happening since I installed Windows 7 on a separate hard drive to create a dual boot system. Has anyone experienced this and discovered which service is interferring.

Windows 7 is on a separate hard drive to XP

Then I would say installing Win 7 is just a coincidence as both OS would run independently. The only files Win 7 would put on your XP drive are boot files and recovery files, that is if Win XP is the boot drive of course.

One thing I would try is to create a new user account just to test and see if the problem persists, could be that user settings are corrupt.
