Hello, I have a retro IBM Thinkpad (9 years old), runnig Windows XP. It crashed last week with the blue screen of death and has not since worked.

I put the original XP disc in to reinstall but again the blue screen of death at format, repair or install. The BIOS has a built in check that checks the HDD and memory and processor and puts a tick next them all once checked.

But it still shows a blue screen after it does its one beep post.

There seems no way in earth I can reinstall!! Please help!!

One beep suggest ram fault, but i would have thought you get that upon firing up the machine.

I get the one beep upon firing. I assumed it was the normal bios beep that you had to say 'hey everything is fine', but more and mroe is leading me to think its a memory issue. Although the memory comes up as ok, my colleague found a popup wbefore the probelm got this bad saying not enough memory so I wondering if its time to replace it?

Thanks for the quick advice
