Cannot play some wav files on Vista

  Farleyjim 14:46 12 May 2008

I have just bought an HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium and tranferred some wav files from my XP Home desktop. These files were personal recordings which I use for Windows sounds. However, when I copied these files to Vista I am told that "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player does not support the file type or might not support the codec used to compress the file"
I've tried transfer using flash memory stick and e-mail attachments saving them into Windows Media folder but to no avail. Any ideas, please?

This pack usually covers all codecs, download and install.
