Cannot play DVDs

I have just completed a re-install of XP Home SP2. Device manager shows no problems. When I try to play a DVD, with Windows Media Player, I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. Open Display in Control Panel, and then lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. To view the DVD Troubleshooter, click More Information." The troubleshooter does not solve the problem.

The screen resolution was at it's lowest setting of 800x600 pixels and I have changed the colour quality setting from highest(32) to lowest (16)
I have installed and activated Cineplayer DVD Decoder pack, which enabled me to play DVDs after the last re-install of windows.

Could I have forgotten to install something?

Thanks, but this means uninstalling the decoder I paid for and that is the one I want to use.

Not sure, whack em on and try it, the K-lite pack is pretty comprehensive, it probably does more than the one you paid for...

The one I paid for does the job, I just have to find out how to get back to where I was before I re-installed XP. I am not throwing money away, at least not until I win the lottery:-)
