cannot format my master harddrive

I having proplems with my pc. want to format the hd and reinstall windows. I have done this many times but this time when you restart the pc with windows cd in the drive. You cannot get cd to load to start setup. It also I cannot go into safemode or go to bios. I have xp sp2 with all latest updates and Zonealarm internet security install

You need to set the boot order in the bios to cd rom first to allow boot from cd. Some bios setups have an option to enable boot from CD so if you one has that do enable it.

Forgot to say are you pressing the right key to enter the bios. F2 and delete are common ones as well as ctrl that I have seen. Otherwise you could try resetting the bios by removing the battery fromthe motherboard.
