cannot format

hi i changed my hard drive and have put my old hard drive into a ex case the old disk has xp installed on it but when itry to format it it wont let me i managed to delete most of it by right clicking it and choosing delete but i am left with flash 9c.ocx, inspect and cmdmon which i know are system files but i thought being on a external drive icould delete them i have tried unlocker thanks Chippy

Did you try formatting by going to my computer and right clicking on the icon for the external drive and choosing format?

yes i did but it came up with cannot format this drive but i went into manage disk and deleted patrition and created new one which formats it as well have managed to install acronis backup image on it thanks for the reply to my question Chippy

Disc management was going to be my next suggestion but glad you got it sorted.
