Cannot copy, Disk is Write-Protected

  Doug. 13:52 26 May 2004

I have recently moved to a new PC and when I try to use my CDs-RW to record new data I obtain the message

Cannot copy, disk is write protected, remove write protection.

How do I do this, they work on my old PC and I can read data on my new machine from them but I cannot copy to them on my new PC.

It is not a matter of listing disk properties and changing the read only as the properties it brings up are those of the Disk-Drive and not the CD-RW disk.

What software do you have installed? You will need some packet writing software, such as Nero's InCD. That may be on your old PC.
