cannot access

Dear Fellow technophiles
I recently changed from orange to virgin ISP(2Mbps to 8Mbps) The service goes thro an ADSL Belkin MIMO router modem from my desktop that runs XP. I have aGateway laptop wirelessly connected to this network at home. I had a problem recently where all of a sudden I could not access or web pages on the desktop and laptop. Since then I have done a complete wipe of the laptop hard disk and reset to original. Last night I tried again on laptop and still the laptop "hangs" when trying to access these pages. then "program not responding" then end program and it closes down completely! Please can someone help me with solving this problem? Thanks is advance guys!
