Using vista, and a 3comm wi fi router to supanet.
Both computers wired via LAN.
Cannot access router after typing 192.168.1.1, Main computer does.
Problem computer can printer share. Problem comes when trying to access internet. where possible all info. is the same.
Network diagnostics run state: -Your modem/router is not available. I have tried switching on and off router. Ive swapped routers no change. I have installed a wi fi, removed land, still the same message.
Tried 3comm assist and supanet. to no avail.

Check that the lan cards and network setting is correct

Once you can access the router use the following setting

Connection Type = PPPoA

Encapsulation Method: VCMUX

VPI: 0

VCI: 38

Authentication: Auto

Keep Alive: On

User Idle Timeout: 3420

NAT: On

QoS: On

User Name & Password that you presently use to access your ISP service

Many thanks, on the problem computer in vista, Start - network, shows both computers but not the router.
All figures the same, except Authentication: Auto
Keep Alive: on
User idle timeout;3240
QoS: on

When I access the router setup programme, not on the problem computer, the Mac address forthat computer is:00-00-00-00-00-00. The computer i am working on has a numeric MAC address:00-1F-C6-70-46-65.

Also when I connect using a broadband modem the problem computer works ok.
I'v re checked the BIOs the Lan card is enabled

Windows Vista contains both the familiar IPv4 stack and the new IPv6 stack.

IPv6, when it's rolled out across the Internet over the next few years, will bring an end to

the problem of running out of IP addresses and improve other aspects of TCP/IP

operation.

However you do not need IPv6 at present time disable IPv6 in the Windows Vista system.

Download the pdf file will tell you how to disable IPv6 in Vista
