Has anyone any experience in canceling their Orange broadband without going through their 0944 telephone number at £4.89p per minute?

See if there's anything click here under Orange to help

Try using their "Sales" freephone number 0800 072 5563 - that's always the one department that does bother to answer the phone!

Alternatively, there are contact phone numbers on this page click here

I cannot believe that any reputable company would use such a costly method for customers wishing to cancel a broadband service.

I would get in touch with its customer service department - it will surely be a much cheaper alternative?

Seems that there are a lot of disgruntled Orange customers out there. This is just one example:

This is a copy of their home broadband and home phone support phone number and if there is a query regarding their broadband services there are various numbers with the following condition -

0844 873 8586

24 hours a day, 7 days a week

(8am-10pm for move house queries)

Calls to this 0844 number are charged at 4.89p a minute from a BT landline, Orange Home Phone or your second phone line (if you have one). Calls from mobiles and some other networks may cost more. Calls may be recorded for quality assurance purposes.'

Looks to be where that £4.89 a minute "charge" came from...:-)

Ok, instead of 0844 873 8586 phone 0800 9801492.

Number from click here

Stuartli - Thanks for these sites.
If you look again at this one, that you sent me, click here and go to 'Customer support - all other packages' you will see that they state '0844 873 8586*** Calls to this 0844 number cost 5 pence a minute from a BT land line, Orange Home Phone or your second phone line (if you have one). Calls from mobiles and some other networks may cost more. Calls may be recorded for quality assurance purposes'.
This totally contradicts their other page which has the same t/f number at a much higher price, so which one do you trust?

OTT_Buzzard - Thanks for that number. I'll get on to them and try and sort this fiasco out.

mgmcc - Sorry, didn't mean to leave you out. If there's no joy from the above number I'll try yours.

Thank you all for your assistance, it's much appreciated.

>>totally contradicts their other page which has the same t/f number at a much higher price..>>

Which page is that?

Presumably the 5p charge is 4.89p (plus VAT?) or rounded up.

By the way, I've assumed that your 0944 prefix is, in reality, 0844...:-)
