Can you switch this annoying message off?

I have two user accounts set up on my Win XP system one is my account and is password protected the other is a guest account for family and others.

When I type in my password and mistype a character The message comes up asking me if I have forgotten my password.

Now I dont know about others but there is something soooo annoying about this message it seems to be so condescending and smug (Am I reading to much into this?)I can almost hear the computer laughing at me (Am I taking this too far?)

Anyway my question is this is there a way to turn this message off, that should shut up the smug little annoying thingy;-)

P.S What annoys you about Windows or other software for that matter?

You must stop mistyping. Do it slowly one character at a time. Don't let the computer take charge. Tell it firmly, "I'm in charge"

Calm down, dear, it's only a message.

Hi Jackcoms I know but I really think its taking the you know what, I always shout at it 'No I didnt forget my password I just mistyped it'

I know! Just get rid of the password!

Rude isn't it?!

But then, if anyone knows how to do "patronising", it's MS!

Rdave13 - that would be a bit of a security lapse!

Agreed ade.h, but would save Legolas' sanity...;)

I fail to see the need to have a password on a home PC. click here

You haven't got kids in the house then....

Or run a business from home?

  VoG II 21:24 04 Apr 2006

a) One kid - she knows her limits and has her own laptop.

b) I work from home some of the time using a company laptop. That, obviously, is password protected.

But for your common or garden home PC (i.e. not used for business) I think that passsword protection is unnecessary - kids would soon crack it anyway.
