Hi all,

I an confused (as usual).....

Desktop running XP Pro, Laptop XP Home (Toshiba 2450, P4 2.4Ghz)

OK, I know XP home does not have the backup facility that Pro has so I thought that I would use MS Backup on the desktop to backup "My network places" and browse to the Laptop.

The Desktop has three drives - 2 x 80Gb and 1 x 40Gb. i selected the 40 Gb which was installed specifically for this purpose and has never been used before. Started backup and left it to do its thing.

This morning I checked and sure enough, there is the backup file in the 40 GB disk. The problem?

Well, the Laptop has a 30Gb Disk with 12.2Gb Used in NTFS.

The New 40 GB disk on the Desktop (Also NTFS) shows 26.2 Gb Used and the only thing on it is the laptop backup. So Basically, my 12.2 Gb on the laptop has transformed itself into 26Gb in backup files on the desktop!

An Extra 14 Gb for a backup? Where did it come from? Any ideas?

Many thanks.....
