Can a SATA HDD be installed along with an ATA HDD?

  FCD 14:01 20 Sep 2006

A simple question I am sure. I have a 2 HDD system - OS on one, games/data etc on the other. I wish to replace the slave HDD with a bigger capacity and as my mobo supports SATA, this might be the time to start updating.

So, is it possible to install a SATA HDD in the slave position retaining my OS in the original ATA HDD?

Many thanks

No problem in having a SATA hardrive and a PATA hardrive .
The new drive would not be a "slave" as it is on its own SATA connection but it would not necessary have the operating system. If you were to put the operating system on the SATA drive you would have to change the boot sequence in the bios.
