Can I use an unwanted Orange router on my Orange

  Chris Webster 21:19 03 Apr 2009

my sister has changed broadband providers and now has an unwanted Orange router (Netgear I think).

My questions are,

if Orange don't ask for the old router back would I be able to use it on my Orange broadband connection on my laptop. I'm currently using the ST330 USB modem. If the answer is yes, would I have to run the set up disc for an ethernet connection?

My laptop is wireless enabled so would it pick up the router on wireless?

Regards, Chris.

I cant think of a reason why it shouldn't work for you.

If it came with a set up disc/instruction manual it would be best to follow that.

If the router is wireless then you should be able to connect wirelessly. If she set up passwords on the router and cant remember them then you may have a problem in that area.

Doubt very much that they will ask for it back if your sisters contract ran its course and the router is a year or so old.
