My PC is a Dell Dimension 3100 and my digital video will not play correctly,
it's jumpy. My motherboard uses on board graphics but I have a spare expansion slot and I am planning to fit an Asus ATI Radeon 5450 HD 1GB PCI-Express 2.1 HDMI graphics card.
Can anybody please advise me if these parts are compatible ? I've heard Dell can be dodgy to update with 'foreign' parts.
There is a big difference between PCI and PCIe (also known as PCI Express). Take a look at Google to see the physical difference. PCI expansion slots for graphics cards are little used nowadays, they were replaced first by AGP and now by PCIe. I doubt if you will find a new PCI Graphics card nowadays and used ones will all be of relatively low memory.
