can i get a wifi signal from ethernet cable which is connected to router?

i have my router upstairs but have an ethernet cable run from this downstairs into my lounge which is for the tv. i cant get a wifi signal on my phone in the lounge so was wondering if there is anything i can plug the ethernet cable in the lounge into to give a wifi signal. Lee

You will need an access point downstairs

i know i am stupid but can you explain how it will work. if i plug the ethernet cable in to the access point in the lounge will this give me wifi in the lounge and if so will it work like a repeater as i had one of those and it was rubbish. sorry for being so basic Lee

You can either use an old/different router in access point mode or purchase an access point which will act as a repeater and give you Wifi in your lounge. I hope the following video link makes things clear for you : click here
