Hi, i'd like to know if computer repair technicians can access passwords for email accounts and Ebay, as my laptop is in the shop getting a reinstall. Should i change these when i get it back ? Thanks.

If passwords saved in browser or mail client then the answer is yes. Definitely change passwords as soon as possible; maybe use a friend's PC/Laptop BUT make sure passwords are not saved i.e. "remember me don't select - treat same as if using g a public computer"

Add also make sure browser is not storing/saving passwords.

With the right bit of kit and knowledge, nothing is safe on a computer.

I tend to find that most repair places, tend to reformat a computer if the problem appears to be software conflictions. If its hardware, like a replacement hard-drive, then any passwords will be on the old unit, unless they use cloning for the transfer, which would be unlikely.

Consider also, that if you are using something like a 'password manager', then the chances of finding all your passwords would be slightly easier, once the password manager code as been broken.
