can anyone recomend a good DVD writer?

Im going to buy a DVD writer very soon but im not sure which one to go for, there are many below £50.
i was thinking of buying from Ebuyer
also how do i know if my motherboard needs an IDE one or not
sorry im not to clued up on computer hardware!!

Go for the LG4120B, do you have a CD player in your pc and a single hard drive?

i have a dvd drive and a separate cd writer but only one hard disk

go for the NEC 3500a it is dual layer and got a reccomended in this magazines write up will cost around £50 for an oem version

if you buy an oem version make sure of what you will actually get (and what you require) these do not come with some extras ie software, mounting screws,cables, instructions etc

I have just installed a Panasonic DVR-108, 16x Dual layer, multi-format. Great!!!!!!!!!!!!
Available in Biege (£48.05) or Black from ebuyer, although the black one is £6.35 more!

These are oem versions so, as kspatto says you will not get everything you need!!

these all sound good but OEM's dont sound like what im after as i would need the software etc
