Can 98se do WPA?

My laptop runs on 98se(its to slow and short of RAM to run XP)IBM Thinkpad 380XD

I was recently at a friends, whose using a WiFi router. She had asked about securing her network,so I set up WPA on her system.

I then attempted to logon to her network from my laptop.Although I could see her router in my laptops SSID,it stated the connection was WEP enabled.I tried several times to access her router/BB via my laptop, but it just wouldn't have it.

The laptops using a PCMIA card (WLAN-G FRISBEE Wireless LAN 802.11b/g Adapter)click here indicates it can detect WPA,so this is my reasoning for it to be 98se's fault that I couldn't setup WPA secure access.

I must add,I did setup WPA for her network with her desktop on XP.

At the foot of page 22 of the manual you linked to it says:

"802.1x, WPA (Windows XP SP1 and Windows 2000 SP4 only)"
