I was recently bought a 9 mega pixel camera which came with 16mb card. obviously this doesn't give me much scope.
can anyone recommend a good value card and tell how many photos i can expect to store.
I've seen a 256 mb in pc world for about a tenner which seems fairly good value

I agree with amateurann, have bought from them lots of times and no probs, be aware of (at present) fixed £3.95 p and p, but this fixed charge covers one or many items ordered at the same time, they don't charge VAT either, for rechargeable camera batteries click here

click here they have a huge range. They had an offer of 512mb of memory for £12 a few weeks ago. Their own stuff in the main tends to be pretty good for just general usage.

worth shopping around; Free p&p can make quite a difference to total cost. I bought from 7-day shop.

cheap cards will read/write slower than expensive cards. that is basically the difference between difference cards of the same volume. ask about speeds varying fron 4x to 80x transfer speed. Also cheap cameras have slow transfer speeds, compared to expensive ones and so an expensive card may be to fast for a cheap camera. The best quality but expensive is LEXAR or scandisk. CHECK THE TECHNICAL SPEC !!!! cheap is not always best

1gb Fuji XD from Amazon £22.63 click here

Expect to get approx 445 frames using the 9mp in normal mode, using 9mp in fine mode will give approx 225 frames, in RAW you will get approx 54 frames, 9mp jpegs run out at 3488x2616px.

Xd will be the quickest for images to be written to.
