Ok guys, one for the real xperts!! I have a sytem running xp pro, (tho the problem is not with the OS) Sometimes on startup, the boot sequence hangs for a long time during "detecting HD's" - when it finally recognises my Maxtor HD, it recognises it as "CALYPSO" (it's not a calypso drive) and then says "HD fail". When I then go to setup, and select autodetect HD's, it returns the correct HD, and continues boot-up as normal! Any ideas?? A minor irritant but I'm curious as to how to solve it??

Patience is a virtue. The post has only been there for fifteen or so minutes.

The first thing to do is open the case and check that all the plugs into the various bits inside are fully pushed home.
