Hi All,

I'm thinking of buying a Netgaear WNR3500 RangeMax which is a cable router. And i'm on adsl broadband. What I wanted to know if is I buy a netgear adsl modem and plug the ethernet from that into the wan port on the back of the Netgear WNR3500 will I get a internet connection?

Thanks
Matt

Yes , although there must be an alternative that had an ADSL modem built in ....DGN 2000 for example

I'm with Ashrich on this one would be a lot cheaper and easier to set up if you go for 1 ADSL Modem/Router

The reason on why i wanted to do the above is because you cannot find any adsl router with gigabit lan, apart from the belkin n1 vision which I have now bought, ignoring the bad reviews it got. But the adsl isnt brilliant though on the belkin and i've always bought netgear equipment so I wanted a netgear really.

I think you'd be better off with a gigabit switch instead of a cable router - no fiddling with subnets or static routes to get the router>router setup working. For example; click here
