C drive - access denied

  onthebog 19:13 05 May 2009

Double clicking the C drive produces a message "Windows cannot find RECYCLER/S-8-1-65-100014989-100005495-2007.com" and denies access to the defragmentation utility. Any suggestions? C drive contents can be accessed by using the right click "explore" feature if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks OTT_Buzzard. The C drive can now be opened, but the defrag still won't play along.

Right click C Drive.Properties.Tools.Defrag.Maybe try it in safe mode if it does not work.

Using Smart Defrag at the moment which seems to be doing a better job than the Windows defrag anyway. Gonna try the safe mode option and see if it works.
