buyind a new hard drive

im starting to run out of space on my 120GB hard drive,so i would like to get a new exsturnal hard drive about 60GB min, is there anything i sould be cairfull of, i understand its a strate fowerd set-up,but do i need to buy anything else
,is it just a plug in a go set up.

Do you have USB2 or Firewire connection - if not you should think about getting a PCI card with one of these preferably USB2 which will give you a wider choice of external drive.

If you do not then an external drive will be very very very slow on USB1.1.

Right click My Computer and choose Properties.

Then shoose Hardware and then Device Manager

At the bottom of the list is Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

You need to have " Standard EnhancedPCI to USB Host Controller" in the list to have USB2.

If you do not then either you do not have it or it is not enabled in the BIOS.

ok thanks, i have . SIS PCI to USB ENHANCED HOST CONTROLLER
& USE OPEN HOST CONTROLLER.
Is that ok ?

As long as it says enhanced its USB 2.0 and should be ok.
