Burning a DVD.

on my mates pc (Dell)he has a AVI file he wants to turn into a dvd,
Problem is that the two programs wont burn the disk, well Roxio MyDvd burns the disk but it wont read in the dvd player in the living room.

Tryed to finalise the dvd in Roxio creator LE but it just crashed.

The dvd writer is dv+-rw and the disks are DVD+RW (sony)

So is there an idiot proof way of doing this?

Also a non complicated way?

or a freeware program to do the job?

Wolfie you need to convert the AVI file into mp4 this has a trial version click here not used it myself though im afraid.

that doesnt sound right to me?
I thought that in order to burn a dvd the video file had to be either VOB or AVI?

Any other ideas?

Ok,i didnt think standalone dvd players read AVI !

  skidzy 23:29 22 Jan 2007

Just an idea click here

"Re-encode AVI for standalone compatibility"

Ok now im really confused????

All my mate wants to do is burn an AVI to a dvd disk so it plays in a dvd player,

An idiots guide to.... would help.

Does the dvd player play + discs? Panasonic for instance often only play - discs.

i honestly dont know, its a sont dvd player thats all i know.

Unless the player reads DivX you need to convert the AVI to VOB as you suggested.
Trial version of WinAVI should do the job; click here
