Burning C.D.'s using windows media player

My operating system is Windows XP. When using Windows player, and I try to burn C.D.'s, I repeatedly get the error message stating that either my burning speed should be lowered, or I am using the wrong C.D.'s. I have lowered the burning speed to the minimum, but still get the same message. As I have other software on my system, similar to Media Player, i.e. Nero burning software, would this conflict with the media player, or can anyone give me any reason why Media Player will not burn C.D.'s.

Why bother with Windows for burning CD's when you have Nero installed. I use Nero - Burning Rom for any I want to burn. No problems with burning rate at all and no conflict with Windows (XP same as you). Could be the media itself - are you using cheap spindles or a good quality
media? If the former try a decent brand and see
if that makes a difference.
