I've taken apart my computer since I had a few hardware issues I wanted to check. In putting the thing back together I'm a little stuck. The startup screen (black background) says 'Primary Master HDD S.M.A.R.T. capability disabled' and then a few lines down it says updating ESCD...success Building DMI pool...........successand then I just get a constant flashing cursor which won't do anything.I expect I may have plugged some leads in some wrong places. Does this look about right and what should I do next? Thanks,
It sounds as if you have not plugged the hard drive in.
These may help click here
'Primary Master HDD S.M.A.R.T. capability disabled'Hard drive is noted by BIOS but Smart monitoring is switched off, easily switched on again in BIOS advanced settings if you require it. It will not affect the running of the PC.updating ESCD...success Building DMI pool...........successThis is the Bios registering the drives and other equipment success means everything ok.What should happen next is the Operating system should load. Have you installed windows on the hard drive? try booting wilth a win 98 setup floppy.
