Last week I replaced eldest son's 6 years old "budget buy" with Aluminium tower, Asrock K7S41, 2400 sempron,512Mb Kingston DDR RAM and 80 Gb HD from local (very competetive and competant) shop for £190 total.

No doubt someone will show me how I could have saved pounds, but I have a rapport with the shop and sensible tech support is free (but not needed).

I did appreciate the help with choosing the bits and the reasons for the choice.

On the law of diminishing returns, I realise anyone could pay twice this for the mobo and processor alone, but just now its a fiercely competitive market and very good gear can be obtained for a reasonable price. Don't be led into a speed-is-all trap.

Just as you stated thats all i am after at the moment
