Two separate PC's are refusing to send and receive [email protected] type mail. Both worked fine until yesterday. Both XP Home. Both Windows Live Mail. One Comodo, one Windows firewall. Both Nod32 AV.Any ideas?TIAdb
It would help if you could say exactly what is happening when you try to send/receive mail - do you for example get an error message?
Oops!Unable to send or receive messages for the dogbreath (BTYahoo) account. The host 'mail.btinternet.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.Server: 'mail.btinternet.com'Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0DProtocol: POP3Port: 110Secure(SSL): NoSocket Error: 11001
Also, can't access some btyahoo web pages Server not found).click here
And, just to be comprehensive, non-access to both btyahoo mail and some btyahoo web pages is inconsistent....sometimes, it connects OK.No problem with any other domain.
These should be your settings in Windows Live Mail - notice in particular item 3 regarding authentication. In Properties tick the box at the bottom of the Servers tabThe POP3 server (incoming mail) ismail.btinternet.com The SMTP server (outgoing mail) is also mail.btinternet.com Both need your BT Yahoo! email address and password; you will have to tell your e-mail program that the SMTP server requires authentication. The SMTP server can use either port 25 or port 587.
My settings for BT Yahoo are;- SMTP - Port 25 (Out)POP3 - Port 110 (In)SMTP server requires authentication
Checked your settings against mine. Identical (port 25 for smtp). The problem I'm having is intermittent. Connects OK one minute, 10 minutes later, error message?
I don`t use Windows Mail,(I use Outlook). No problems with the BT mail site though. Try accessing your BT account from here:click here
I can access my BT mail through WLM at the moment. Strange thing is, on the intermittent occasions that I can't access it, the error is on two machines at the same time.
If that's the case then I would suspect some intermittent problem at the BT end
