Just to update the issue I raised. I have had my box on now for 4 straight days ( normally turned it off each night ). It is working fine and no loss of service so the "overheating" as suggested by BT is not very likely at all. In my view if lights on your mod/router are lit as usual with exception of Internet light then the problem probably lies with BT`s connection server. I have not tho` been able to get a response from any n/wrk gurus on this forum to confirm my diagnosis ( or otherwise ). Have you used your browser to access your mod and run diagnostics ?
