BT Home hub problem after moving home

My father has recently moved house, has been given a new number and his laptop can no longer connect to the internet. Should he need to change any settings on the laptop or is it just a case of plugging the Hub in as before. BT have confirmed that broadband has been activated on the new number. He uses wireless and a BT Home Hub, he can't connect with the ethernet cable either. Any ideas??

to register the hub with his new number, using the software that came with it. If he has the Home hub 2 (the black one) the software will ask him to enter the telephone number on which broadband has been activated. He will also have to enter his registered BT email address.

The hub will then check the BT database and be activated for the new number.

Thank you for that. It's the white hub 1 that he's got. Will we need to enter the same info as you list for the hub2 and when we load the software do we have to go to a certain section or go through the whole setup?

unplug the home hub from the machine. Start Fresh, if you have a recent CD less than say 10month old then use the CD or just connect the Lan.

First connect the Hub to the LTop with a Lan/ethernet cable. Power off hub then power on after a 30seconds or so. Wait for all the lights especially DSL to solid green status not flashing on and off.

Just before we go on, is the hub connected to the main BT Master socket or on a Ext cable. Also all sockets with a phone/Sky/Fax must have Microfilters inc hub.

Try and get google on internet explorer. if it comes up then go to the link i just dropped in is .com hope this is not as a hyperlink in this.

Hopefully you should be able to manually log in to BT Yahoo and manually download all the software you require, customize and carefull not to duplicate the norton software if its allready on the ltop.

Or just use the CD if you want the quick way, but unplugg the lan install CD and follow instructions.
