Just been scanning separately with Avast (which I've just installed on my desktop) and then Malwarebytes. Both get to a certain point where scan locks and get the BSOD.Same with SAS.Am now in Safe Mode scanning with MBAM, and will then try Avast.Anything else I should be doing? Not sure how I've picked up an infection, but looks like I have!
Need the stop code and any .sys file mentioned. Avast boot scan next.
cheers, but what are 'stop codes'?MBAM finished & found 9 Vundos on C.Files mentioned are:vcredist_x86.exewmcsetup.exeMP10setup.exe4 instances of wextract.exe (sys32 & service pack files2 instances of RP774\A023835.exeBOSD seems isolated to back up on D, and still can't do the scan on it. Other back-up (E) scans with no bugs.Originally, Avast did scan all the way to 98%, but then fell over. However, will try again while in safe mode.Currently doing SAS scan in safe mode - not completed yet. Hope this helps.
1 instance of RP774\A0238345.exe1 instance of RP774\A0238346.exe
think I know what u mean, but guess I will have to wait for scans to finish and see if it BSODs again for these codes.
SAS 8 threats:Just cookies, but asking to reboot.
boot scan started in Avast.
shows up no problems.Where do I go next? Full scan in Safe Mode?
Here we go. Scanning D caused BSOD:0x0000009C(0x00000004, 0x8054E0F0, 0x00070F0F)
Looking briefly, without any knowledge, it could be hardware failure, possibly the D drive?I think I'll try and salvage to external HDD.
can't do boot scan in safe mode. Exited SM, rebooted, now boot scan started. I thought the other scan had gone quickly! Btw, have managed to salvage data, so if it's the D drive, then no major probs.
