Broadband Transfer Speed

  audicol 20:44 11 Apr 2007

I have got Telewest/Virgin broadband, with a belkin 802.11g high-speed wireless router. My transfer speed is 100.00mbps, yet my wife's laptop only seems to have a speed of 54mbps (wi-fi, connected to same router) Is there any way I can change the settings to speed her internet up a bit? Her laptop has an Atheros AR5005g wireless network adapter, with 802.11b preamble??

Any help will be much appreciated.

That is because it has an internal wireless card which is only rated at 54mbps.

Do you do a lot of large file transfers across your network of do you do a lot of latest game playing across the network? if not 54mbps far outstrips any BB connection speed availiable at the moment.

But if you still want to speed it up then you will need a wireless adapter with the faster speed. click here There are a couple of 108mbps USB ones on this page.
click here There is one 108 mbps PCMCIA card on this page.
