Broadband speed crash and Google Updater

Just a note rather than a question, just in case anyone else experiences similar issue.

Have been struggling with slow BB speed over last few days, on 10Mb Virgin cable and generally hit between 9-10Mb d/load, but recently dropped to less than 2Mb on my pc, but not nearly so bad on laptop sharing same connection. PC is on ethernet to router, while laptop is wireless.
After rebooting modem, router and scanning pc with everything I have (Spybot, AVG, Adaware etc) and finding nothing wrong, was at a loss to discover the issue until searching PCA Helproom and finding a post from Blackhat where he had discovered that Google Updater was hogging his bandwidth.
Low and behold after removing GU, d/load speed is back to normal.

So just a heads up for anyone who may experience anything similar.

I'll leave unresolved for a while just in case anyone is interested.
