Hi, I have just switched from ntl to bt broadband and allthough the ntl connection was 4meg and the bt is 3meg, The bt one is so slow. I know that the ntl uses better cable than bt and that the bt one goes through the phone line but it is so much slower and i was wodering what speed i should be getting. I did a speed test and it came back as just over 93kbs. Any ideas? Thanks Jamie

That is slow for a 3mb/sec connection , roughly 512kb/sec should download at 60ish kb , 1mb/sec at 120k , 2mb/sec at 240k etc. you are downloading at about a quarter of what you should ideally get , I say ideally as it will depend on the time of day , the amount of other users online at the time and possibly the socket that your adsl modem is plugged in to , have you tried it in the main socket for the house .
